Athens Academy had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Eastside Eagles. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Athens Academy easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-17.

Sally Swann paced Athens Academy's offense, picking up ten kills. Swann got some help from Lucy Wages and her 17 assists. Wages also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ginna Dugas, racking up two apiece.

Athens Academy's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Eastside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Athens Academy will take on Elbert County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Eastside, they will host Union Grove at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
