Baseball Game Preview: Cave Spring Knights vs. Pulaski County Cougars

The Cave Spring Knights will face off against the Pulaski County Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cave Spring will be strutting in after a win while Pulaski County will be coming in after a loss.

Cave Spring was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past William Byrd 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won three in a row.

Sam Urgo was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Cave Spring: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 3-6 otherwise. Urgo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other pitching news, Tyler Harrison tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.

Urgo wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Meinster, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Pulaski County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 9-6 to Salem.

Pulaski County's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Cave Spring, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.
