Basketball Game Preview: Mount Vernon Bulldogs vs. Blaine Borderites

The Mount Vernon Bulldogs will take on the Blaine Borderites at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Blaine took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Vernon, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, Mount Vernon was able to grind out a solid victory over Meridian, taking the game 43-36.

Meanwhile, Blaine had to suffer through a 57-25 loss at the hands of Ferndale. While losing is never fun, the Borderites can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 123rd).

This is the second loss in a row for Blaine and nudges their season record down to 4-11. As for Mount Vernon, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Mount Vernon lost to Blaine at home by a decisive 56-40 margin in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Mount Vernon avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
