Recap: Burroughs Bears vs. Righetti Warriors
Even though the Righetti Warriors scored an imposing 62 points on Friday, the Burroughs Bears still came out on top. Burroughs took down Righetti 76-62. Given Burroughs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 224th, while Righetti is ranked 1077th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Burroughs to victory were Jagger Topp and Omar Payind. Topp scored 19 points along with six steals and five assists, while Payind dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Landon Everhart was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Burroughs' win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Righetti, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Santa Paula the next time they take the court. Righetti will head out to face Santa Paula at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Burroughs will head out to face them at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
