Baseball Recap: Dayton Christian Comes Up Short

Dayton Christian had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 8-4 to make it four. They fell 10-7 to the Franklin Wildcats. The WARRIORS were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Franklin, the win got them back to even at 10-10. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

For Franklin's part, Talon Conrad looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The Wildcats are 4-2 when Conrad allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Austin Hurst, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gregory Pearson, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dayton Christian will challenge Milton-Union at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Franklin, they will square off against Ross at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
