Softball Recap: Bartlett Yancey Buccaneers vs. Graham Red Devils
After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Bartlett Yancey brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They were the clear victor by a 21-10 margin over the Graham Red Devils on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Buccaneers as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Alana Knight was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off one hit. Knight was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring five runs and stealing Four bases. while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Montana Locklear was incredible, going 3-for-6 with one home run, four stolen bases, and six RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Savana Gibbs, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
Bartlett Yancey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Graham has given up an average of 18.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
