Football Recap: Clovis Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Clovis hadn't done well against Buchanan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cougars never let the Bears get on the board and left with a 25-0 victory. Those 25 points were actually the fewest the Cougars have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Clovis found their leader in sophomore James Curoso, who rushed for 87 yards and four TDs. Those four rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Curoso. Another player making a difference was Carlos Young, who picked up 168 receiving yards.

Clovis' run defense was locked in: Buchanan could only muster 0.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Lolomanaia Clark for the heroic effort on defense: he. Clovis' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.4.

Clovis' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games. As for Buchanan, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-2 record.

Clovis has already played their next game, a 45-7 win against Clovis North on the 10th. As for Buchanan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 29-7 defeat against Clovis West on the 10th.
