Recap: Benson Bunnies vs. Lincoln East Spartans
There's no place like home for the Benson Bunnies, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Friday. They had just enough and edged Lincoln East out 52-49. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Benson also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2019.
Benson found their leader in underclassman Mckenzie Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Lewis' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jesani Green, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Benson now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Lincoln East, they have fallen quite a ways from their 18-6 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Benson will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mercy at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Lincoln East will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fremont at 3:15 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
