Soccer Game Preview: West Valley vs. San Jacinto

The West Valley Mustangs are taking a road trip to take on the San Jacinto Tigers at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. West Valley's last six matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

West Valley's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tahquitz, sneaking past 1-0. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while the Titans are ranked 806th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, San Jacinto was able to grind out a solid victory over Temescal Canyon on Friday, taking the game 4-2. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly two goals.

They hit Temescal Canyon with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Josue Cubarrubias (2), Jose Zuniga, and Jason Solito.

San Jacinto is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 12-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those nine matchups. As for West Valley, their win bumped their record up to 15-3-2.
