Basketball Recap: Stratford Piles Up the Points Against Academic Magnet

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Stratford). They claimed a resounding 62-21 win over the Academic Magnet Raptors. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Knights as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Stratford had a senior duo take command as Ciara Mustapher dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten steals and Sydnie Stepney dropped a double-double on 16 boards and ten steals. Stepney has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more blocks the last 13 times she's played. Averi Johnson was another key player, putting up nine points and four steals.

Stratford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The win got Stratford back to even at 5-5. As for Academic Magnet, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Stratford and Pisgah will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. As for Academic Magnet, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Charleston Collegiate at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
