Basketball Recap: Bronaugh Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Bronaugh challenged Everton on Friday. The Bronaugh Wildcats took a 61-43 bruising from the Everton Tigers. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Bronaugh lost, don't look at Nellie Earnest. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 17 boards. The dominant performance also gave Earnest a new career-high in assists (four). Kaylee Hallam was another key player, putting up nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Bronaugh was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

It was another big night for Olivia Sartin, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 13 boards for Everton. Sartin is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 11 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiya Heim, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.

Bronaugh's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Everton, their win ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bronaugh will take on Rich Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bronaugh is facing Rich Hill at the right time seeing as Rich Hill is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Everton, they will square off against Niangua at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
