Baseball Game Preview: Shoemaker Wolves vs. Killeen Kangaroos

For the second straight game, Shoemaker will face off against Killeen. Shoemaker will square off against Killeen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Shoemaker will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Killeen on Friday. Shoemaker blew past Killeen 11-1. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wolves' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Joephillip Guzman was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Shoemaker is 3-0-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Guzman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Shoemaker let Eliel Rivera and Orville De Jesus-Moreno run wild. Rivera scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while De Jesus-Moreno went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Shoemaker is undefeated when Rivera posts two or more runs, but 1-7-2 otherwise. Marc Stephens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Killeen is on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13. As for Shoemaker, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-7-2.
