Softball Recap: Markesan Comes Up Short

After flying high against Montello on Tuesday, Markesan came back down to earth. The Hornets lost 12-1 to the Wild Rose Wildcats on Thursday.

Markesan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Heberer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Markesan has also been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Wild Rose, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Looking ahead, Markesan will venture away from home to challenge Westfield Area at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pioneers have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Wild Rose, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Pacelli at 4:30 p.m.
