Softball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Central's offense. They fell 3-0 to the Philipsburg-Osceola Mountaineers on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Mountaineers: they've now lost three in a row.

Kailyn Gahagan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Central saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alexis Fetzer, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.

Looking ahead, Central will venture away from home to face off against Penns Valley Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Philipsburg-Osceola, they will host Bishop Guilfoyle at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Mountaineers are facing the Marauders at the right time seeing as the Marauders are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
