Preview: Sedgwick Cardinals vs. Moundridge Wildcats
After two games on the road, Sedgwick is heading back home. They will take on the Moundridge Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sedgwick was handed a 32-point defeat in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Inman on Friday. Sedgwick narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Inman 30-27. The victory was just what Sedgwick needed coming off of a 55-23 loss in their prior contest.
In what's become a running theme this season, Moundridge gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Trinity with a sharp 72-46 win. Given Moundridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Trinity is ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moundridge's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bear Moddelmog, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Moddelmog has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaizer Kanitz, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Sedgwick's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12. As for Moundridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
