The Triad Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against the Greeneview Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Triad has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight defeats, while Greeneview will come in with four straight wins.
Triad came up short against Northeastern on Tuesday, falling 15-1.
Madi Bruce was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Greeneview hadn't done well against Madison Plains recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Rams walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Golden Eagles. Greeneview's win was all the more impressive since the Golden Eagles were averaging only 3.75 runs allowed on the season.
Maddie Leslie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Greeneview got a big performance out of Mya Simpson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. What's more, Simpson posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Reichley, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Greeneview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four strikeouts batters in four consecutive contests.
Greeneview pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Triad couldn't quite get it done against Greeneview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 16-13. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
