Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Justin Benning and Tre Paulfrey Lead Nichols to Victory

Nichols entered their tilt with The Park School of Buffalo on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They enjoyed a cozy 75-60 victory over The Park School of Buffalo Pioneers. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while the Pioneers are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nichols was led to victory by Tre Paulfrey and Justin Benning. Paulfrey almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine boards, while Benning went 9-for-14 en route to 22 points and three steals. Those 22 points gave Benning a new career-high. Shane Sebastian-Smalls also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

The Park School of Buffalo's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Greene, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Kamron Barge was another key player, putting up 18 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Nichols now has a winning record of 11-10. As for The Park School of Buffalo, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

Nichols wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 88-51 win against St. Mary's on the 11th.
