Baseball Recap: Halfway Gets the Win

Halfway took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Lockwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cardinals sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Tigers on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Cardinals have won by just one run.

Max McCarthy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. McCarthy was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times he's played.

McCarthy wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Radford, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Halfway and bumps their season record up to 15-11. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Lockwood, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-11.

As of now, neither Halfway nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
