Recap: Madison Patriots vs. Tuscola Mountaineers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Buncombe, the Madison Patriots were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tuscola and snuck past 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Madison found their leader in underclassman Gavin Gault, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Gault has scored at least 25% of Madison's points. Chance Penland was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Madison's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Tuscola, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will take on Polk County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Polk County is ranked 509th, while Madison is ranked 501st). As for Tuscola, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Andrews at 8:00 p.m.
