Baseball Game Preview: Hopkinton Hillers vs. Reading Memorial Rockets

The Hopkinton Hillers will head out to face off against the Reading Memorial Rockets at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hopkinton comes in on six and Reading Memorial on nine.

Hopkinton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Sunday. They never let Whitman-Hanson Regional get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. That's two games straight that the Hillers have won by just one run.

Hopkinton saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nick Pedroli, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Meanwhile, Reading Memorial was able to grind out a solid victory over West Springfield on Monday, taking the game 6-2.

Ethan LeBovidge looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.

Reading Memorial pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hopkinton, their win bumped their record up to 16-7.

Hopkinton beat Reading Memorial 4-1 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hillers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
