The Fayetteville Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 39-31 to Wayne Country Day. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fayetteville Academy in their matchups with Wayne Country Day: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Fayetteville Academy still got an impressive performance from Riley Duchon, who scored 19 points. Duchon scored a full 61.3% of Fayetteville Academy's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mary Reese Barkman was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Wayne Country Day found their leader in underclassman Jada Vanderhorst, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Vanderhorst's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Teeter, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.
Fayetteville Academy now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Wayne Country Day, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
