Baseball Recap: Elyria Comes Up Short

Elyria made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Solon, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Pioneers fell just short of the Comets by a score of 4-2 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since April 17th.

Maurice Stone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits.

Elyria dropped their record down to 4-19 with the loss, which was their ninth straight at home. As for Solon, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.

Looking ahead, Elyria will challenge Open Door Christian at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Solon, they will face off against Stow-Munroe Falls at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
