PHS came in giving up 15.6 points per game this season. The Gilbert school struggled against BHS's offense, which entered the game scoring 36.9 points per game. Coming into the game the Chandler school had allowed 23.7 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Pumas well below their season average of 32.0 points scored per game.
Basha got revenge for last year's 56-38 loss to Perry with the victory.
The victory was a step in the right direction for BHS, which was coming off a 48-28 defeat at the hands of Desert Ridge in its previous game. The loss comes after Perry defeated Poston Butte 24-0 last week. The loss snapped PHS's 3-game winning streak.
Basha (6-2) goes up against Hamilton in a I Section II game matchup next week, while Perry (5-3) locks horns with Goldwater in a II Section III game.
