Volleyball Recap: Kirkwood Now 9-2 over Last 11 Games

Parkway North typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Kirkwood proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Vikings. This was payback for the Pioneers, who suffered a 3-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kirkwood had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.

Luke Martinez paced Kirkwood's offense, picking up 16 kills. Martinez got some help from Alec Gates and his 43 assists. Martinez was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Kirkwood is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Parkway North, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-9.

As of now, neither Kirkwood nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
