Horizon Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Nyla Black, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 11 assists. Black is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 21 games she's played. Shaley Grace Wright was another key player, going 9-for-15 on her way to 18 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.
Horizon Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Lanier Christian Academy beat Creekside Christian Academy 55-50 on Friday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lightning's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while the Cougars are ranked 130th).
Lanier Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Adelyn Gough, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. What's more, Gough also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Meav Fouts, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards.
Horizon Christian Academy's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-6. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.9 points. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 14-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Horizon Christian Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Lanier Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.5 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
