Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is New Roads' Sixth in Last Eight Outings

It was a proper cat-fight when New Roads took on Jordan on Tuesday. The Jaguars came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-3 back in March.

New Roads saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Asamino Spong, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Spong has posted since back in February. Sawyer Hollis was another, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Roads kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

New Roads is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Jordan, they now have a losing record of 11-12-1.

Coming up, New Roads is taking a road trip to challenge Lennox Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Jaguars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jordan, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Woodrow Wilson at 4:00 p.m.
