Basketball Recap: Providence Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Reygan Moody and Piper Mcilrath

After flying high against Faustina Academy last Friday, Providence Academy came back down to earth. The Providence Academy Lions lost 47-26 to the Covenant Christian Cougars on Thursday. That makes it the first time this season the Lions have let down their home crowd.

Providence Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Piper McIlrath, who posted ten points, and Reygan Moody, who scored six points. The dominant performance also gave Moody a new career-high in field goal percentage (67%).

Kaitlyn Knaub continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Covenant Christian, putting up 27 points and seven boards. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Knaub has scored at least a third of Covenant Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Grace Hurlburt, who earned ten points and five rebounds.

Providence Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Covenant Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-9 record this season.
