Baseball Recap: Wilson Wins Going Away Against Whitney

While Wilson didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Whitney with a sharp 14-4 victory on Thursday. That looming 14-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Wilson yet this season.

Christopher Barrientos made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jesus Castorena, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Alex Han, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Wilson pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Whitney, they moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson will host Muir at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Muir will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Whitney, they will welcome Glenn at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
