Softball Recap: Seymour Indians vs. Liberty Eagles
Seymour extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 6-7-1 in the process. They lost 11-3 to the Liberty Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 back in March.
As for Liberty, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win they have posted against Seymour since May 17, 2023.
For Liberty's part, Chandler John spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. John has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Ava Heming was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Anna Dietrich was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Seymour will take on Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Liberty, they will face off against Barry Western at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
