Piedmont Hills came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the San Jose Bulldogs a 1-0 shutout. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 309th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 718th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Piedmont Hills' one-goal win came courtesy of Jordan Diaz, who's now up to four this season.

Piedmont Hills' record is now 5-1-2. As for San Jose, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games.
