Recap: Normangee Panthers vs. Jarrell Cougars
The Normangee Panthers entered their tilt with the Jarrell Cougars with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Normangee enjoyed a cozy 59-44 win over Jarrell on Saturday. Given Normangee's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Jarrell is ranked 497th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Jarrell saw an underclassman step up: Aniya Taylor scored 19 points. Taylor scored a full 43.2% of Jarrell's points, the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kaydyn Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Normangee's win bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Jarrell, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Normangee will take on Lovelady at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jarrell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Rockdale at 6:30 p.m. Rockdale is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
