Softball Recap: Woodland Park Takes a Loss

If Woodland Park was feeling good fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Sierra last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Florence Huskies on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 last Tuesday.

Christine Renteria and Tyler DiFabio stepped up to the plate in a big way. Renteria went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while DiFabio went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Renteria is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Woodland Park has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Florence, their record now sits at 8-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Woodland Park will head out to face off against Mitchell at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Florence, they will venture away from home to challenge Sand Creek at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Scorpions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.59 runs per game on average), something the Huskies will no doubt try to take advantage of.
