Basketball Recap: Julez Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tabb over Smithfield

Tabb lost against Smithfield back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tabb Tigers took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smithfield Packers. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Packers are ranked 56th).

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julez Brown, who posted ten points and three steals. Those three steals gave Brown a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jake Siegel, who scored 11 points.

Tabb has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Smithfield, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Tabb wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 64-52 loss against Warwick on the 8th. As for Smithfield, they will head out to challenge Bruton at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Bruton has won six straight at home, while Smithfield won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
