Baseball Recap: Delaware Valley Has No Trouble Against West Scranton

Delaware Valley barely beat West Scranton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors never let the Invaders get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Monday. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Warriors yet this season.

Frank Pedone was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Delaware Valley is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Pedone was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Teegan Handy, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trevor Phillips, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Delaware Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win (which was Delaware Valley's third in a row) raised their record to 4-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for West Scranton, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-11.
