Baseball Game Preview: Brentwood School Eagles vs. Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals

The Brentwood School Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Brentwood School proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Village Christian.

Hayden Prince made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brentwood School is 4-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-10 otherwise. Prince was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Prince wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bradley Selma, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They walked away with a 6-3 victory over Cathedral.

The win got Brentwood School back to even at 11-11. As for Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary, their record is now 9-13.

Brentwood School came out on top in a nail-biter against Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
