Softball Recap: South Elgin Drops Highest Score of Season Against Aurora East

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Elgin). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Aurora East Tomcats a 26-0 shutout on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Storm considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Grace Krabbe made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Krabbe was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chloe Ricard, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five runs, and four RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Bell, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

South Elgin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

South Elgin's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Aurora East, their loss was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Elgin will venture away from home to square off against Lake Park at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Aurora East, they will square off against Westmont at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
