Preview: Onaga Buffaloes vs. Clifton-Clyde Eagles
The Onaga Buffaloes will head out on the road to face off against the Clifton-Clyde Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Onaga has struggled recently with nine defeats in a row, while Clifton-Clyde will arrive with six straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Onaga lost to Doniphan West on the road by a decisive 47-33 margin.
Despite the loss, Onaga saw an underclassman step up: Casen Hutfles almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Hutfles scored 15 or more points. Rayce Fisher was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Clifton-Clyde put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They blew past Hanover 58-36.
Onaga dropped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Clifton-Clyde, their win bumped their record up to 15-2.
Onaga suffered a grim 60-36 defeat to Clifton-Clyde when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Onaga was down 42-16.
