Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Roger Bacon

Roger Bacon had won five straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 8-5 to make it six. Everything went their way against the Lockland Panthers as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Spartans have won six matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendra Gee spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ally Hughes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gabby Ernst, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Roger Bacon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 7-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

As for Lockland, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-6. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

On Lockland's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Liselle Bradford, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Bradford has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roger Bacon will challenge Mercy McAuley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lockland, they will venture away from home to face off against Walnut Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
