Football Recap: Woodland Wolves vs. Mesa Verde Mavericks
Woodland had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 28-7 to the Mesa Verde Mavericks on Friday. The Wolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mavericks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2023.
Despite the loss, Woodland still got an impressive performance from Diego Bautista, who picked up 85 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 71 yards. Bautista was no stranger to the big play, connecting with a big catch that went for 65 yards.
Fred Robinson had a dynamite game for Mesa Verde, rushing for 167 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.4 yards per carry.
