Baseball Game Preview: Eastern Comets vs. Carroll Cougars

The Eastern Comets will take on the Carroll Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Eastern put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They blew past Southwood 26-7. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Carroll beat Tri-County 11-7 on Friday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Owen Zinn was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Hammond, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win was the third in a row for Eastern, bringing their record up to 17-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Carroll, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.

Eastern came out on top in a nail-biter against Carroll when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
