Softball Recap: Greenbrier Christian Academy Continues Home Dominance on Friday

While Greenbrier Christian Academy's win against Broadwater Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gators never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Gators have posted since April 15th.

Not much got past Haleigh Murphy, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Broadwater Academy off the board. Murphy has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katelyn Balka was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Greenbrier Christian Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two batters in three consecutive matches.

Greenbrier Christian Academy pushed their record up to 24-2 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Broadwater Academy, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-3.

Greenbrier Christian Academy and Broadwater Academy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Gators will look to defend their home field on Monday against Tidewater Academy at 4:30 p.m. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something Greenbrier Christian Academy will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Broadwater Academy, they will welcome Fuqua at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
