Baseball Recap: Burleson Elks vs. Caprock Longhorns
Burleson never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Caprock Longhorns. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Elks.
Landon Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other pitching news, Burleson got a great performance from Evan Hill as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk).
Back at the plate, Joe Villavicencio was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Burleson's record is now 2-0. As for Caprock, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
Burleson wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Legacy on the 22nd. Caprock will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Borger at 12:00 p.m. on March 6th.
