Basketball Recap: Big Pine Takes a Loss

Big Pine easily dispatched Owens Valley on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Warriors fell just short of the Mammoth Huskies by a score of 35-32 on Thursday. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mammoth to victory, but perhaps none more so than DJ Gray, who posted eight points along with five rebounds and five steals. Those eight points gave Gray a new career-high. Micah Painter was another key player, putting up six points and ten boards.

Big Pine's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Mammoth, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Big Pine will challenge Lee Vining at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mammoth, they will face off against Whittell at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
