Softball Recap: Brawley Find Success

Brawley came out on top against Holtville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive 12-run second inning. The Wildcats never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Brawley gave Faith Gomez the start and clearly made the right call: she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave Gomez a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Sophia Ruiz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Roslyn Rubio was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four runs and one double.

Brawley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holtville only posted a batting average of .176.

Brawley's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Holtville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Brawley will be playing in front of their home fans against Imperial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Holtville, they will venture away from home to take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
