Football Game Preview: Colleyville Heritage Panthers vs. Grapevine Mustangs + How To Watch

The Colleyville Heritage Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Grapevine Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Colleyville Heritage has four straight victories, Grapevine has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

While Colleyville Heritage's win against Burleson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Panthers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 29-27 victory over the Elks on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Panthers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Elks are ranked 204th).

It was another big night for Bodey Weaver, who rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns, and also threw for 190 yards on 15 of 23 attempts. 90 of Weaver's passing yards were hauled in by Trevi Preische.

Colleyville Heritage's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Leading the way was Isiah Omar with three sacks. Colleyville Heritage got some further help from Dax Hebeisen: he picked up 0.5 sacks and made 17 total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Grapevine played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Argyle, falling 59-9. The Mustangs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-0.

Grapevine's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Colleyville Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything came up roses for Colleyville Heritage against Grapevine in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 34-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
