Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Blanchet Bears vs. Garfield Bulldogs

The Bishop Blanchet Bears will square off against the Garfield Bulldogs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Bishop Blanchet might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-1 to Lakeside, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Garfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Nathan Hale on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 5-4. The Bulldogs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Lockie McIver made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nash Whitford, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Bishop Blanchet's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Garfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Bishop Blanchet was able to grind out a solid win over Garfield in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 8-4. Will the Bears repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
