Basketball Game Preview: San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy Pirates vs. Southwest Prep Northeast KNIGHTS

The San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy Pirates will head out to challenge the Southwest Prep Northeast KNIGHTS at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Southwest Prep Northeast likes a good challenge.

Last Monday, San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy was fully in charge, breezing past KIPP Somos Collegiate 73-20. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 25 points or more this season.

San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy found their leader in sophomore Ryan Hayes, who went 11 of 16 en route to 27 points and five steals. Hayes has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Braylon Groce, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and eight rebounds.

San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Southwest Prep Northeast and Southwest Prep Northwest faced off in a cross-town battle on Monday. Southwest Prep Northeast managed a 51-47 win over Southwest Prep Northwest.

San Antonio S.T.E.A.M. Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Southwest Prep Northeast, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
