Basketball Recap: Bishop Manogue Takes a Loss

If Bishop Manogue was feeling good fresh off their 68-34 takedown of McQueen last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bishop Manogue Miners fell 54-41 to the Spanish Springs Cougars on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Cougars are ranked fifth).

When it comes to explaining why Bishop Manogue lost, don't look at Liam Sorensen. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points. Eli Benna was another key player, putting up seven points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spanish Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Owen Hensley, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Acosta, who had 13 points.

Bishop Manogue now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Spanish Springs, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Bishop Manogue wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-48 victory against Reno on the 8th. As for Spanish Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-57 win against Douglas on the 8th.
