Basketball Recap: Sickles Piles Up the Points Against Largo

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sickles had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 72-22 victory over the Largo Packers. The Gryphons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Sickles got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelsey Sharpe out in front who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten assists. Sharpe has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 38 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jadyn Watts, who went 10 for 24 on her way to 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Sickles is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 29.1% in those games and 24.5% outside of them. As for Largo, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Sickles will square off against Steinbrenner on Saturday. Steinbrenner's defense has only allowed 29.4 points per game this season, so Sickles' offense will have their work cut out for them. Largo does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
