Baseball Game Preview: Rincon/University Rangers vs. Douglas Bulldogs

Rincon/University and Douglas are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Rincon/University Rangers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will face off against the Douglas Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rincon/University's tournament run continued when they took on El Paso on Friday. Rincon/University lost 12-4 to El Paso. The loss was the Rangers' first of the season.

Mauro Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Andres Yubeta was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Douglas posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024 on Friday. They blew past Eastmark 11-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

The team relied heavily on Andres Ortiz, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Trase Rodriguez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Rincon/University fell to 2-1. As for Douglas, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.

Rincon/University might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Douglas in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Rincon/University avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
